6th April 2014 – Party Magician in Cheshire
Living in a rural village in Cheshire, I’m pretty used to travelling long distances to get to gigs. I’ve driven five hours to do a 30 minute stand up show and then headed straight back. It’s a weird feeling, but it’s fun and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
There was no five hour drive tonight though. To be honest, it wasn’t even five minutes. I was booked to perform as a birthday magician in my local pub, the Cock O’ Barton in Barton. It’s a great local venue with fantastic food and a great atmosphere, so I love performing magic there!
I was the surprise for a 40th Birthday party, held in the garden. As is pretty usual in these kind of events, I was magic-ing (I know it’s not really a word, but it’s my website) at the start of the night, doing my amazing sleight of hand and getting people laughing, before they had a meal and the band. For this kind of event, magic is a perfect entertainment, as people are milling around and wondering what to expect of the evening. A quick trick or bit of interaction can help break the ice and get people laughing, which, let’s face it, is what you want at a party.
