On Halloween, I was asked to perform as a Chester restaurant magician at the El-Gato-Negro Tapas restaurant for their spooky ghost hunt night. Also there were presenters from Dee 106.3, Chester’s local radio station, who were going to be hunting for the ghosts while I entertained the diners. The whole place had a really good vibe to it on the night, with diners getting into the spirit of things in fancy dress and really enjoying the magic.
I even got to show Stan Boardman and Dennis Taylor a few card tricks! I forget which one I am in this picture…
Unlike other restaurants that are very keen to turn tables to get new diners in, Tapas seems to lend itself well to magic: there are several courses (with more being added during the meal), and it’s very relaxed. With diners spending a few hours at a table, there’s no pressure and greater opportunity to perform!
Magic can be a great way to keep your diners entertained between courses and can really help build a fun and positive atmosphere in your venue.
