23rd May 2014 – Performing at the Celebrity launch of CBeebies Land at Alton Towers
This was one of those events that I was REALLY looking forward to. I had been passed a referral by a fellow magician to perform close up magic at the opening of CBeebies Land at Alton Towers.
I love Alton Towers and, having a four year old daughter myself, I was more than familiar with CBeebies (and when I say “more than familiar”, I do of course mean that I have memorised every episode of Something Special…ever!).
There was a big launch planned where, during the day, a few select guests would tour the park and experience the attractions and then, in the evening, the room would open up with food, fun games and a weird chap walking round with a deck of cards, performing funny close up magic!
This is a great example of how an adult magician can be used at a children’s event; it’s good to have something for the adults too! Sure, there’s lots going on for the kids, but why not have a close up magician entertaining all the adults as well. Why should the kids have al the fun? 🙂
I’ve worked quite a few events recently, such as Christenings and Children’s birthday parties, where I’ve been booked to keep the adults out of trouble. It’s something to bear in mind if you’ve got an event coming up!
